Please help! Elimination to solve?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I need to know how to do it or a calculator to help me. I have several questions like this.

OpenStudy (primeralph):

I could write you a program to do it. What kind of calculator do you have?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't have one..

OpenStudy (primeralph):

@blurbendy Let's code something for her.

OpenStudy (primeralph):

@lissa_bug What kind of computer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Just a Gateway laptop.

OpenStudy (blurbendy):

hm, this would be an interesting project.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How long would it take?

OpenStudy (primeralph):

Well, we will write you a program that you'll run on your computer to help you solve it. Remember we are doing it for free, so be patient.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No, I am appreciative, it's just that I am on a really tight schedule.

OpenStudy (primeralph):

We all are. I want to sleep too. @hero @mebs @ganeshie8 Where my coders at?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No, I mean I literally have only about an hour...

OpenStudy (primeralph):

How many questions?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Most likely 10 or under. I can't see yet.

OpenStudy (primeralph):

@hero .NET?

OpenStudy (blurbendy):

System.out.println("ha, ha.");

OpenStudy (primeralph):

Is that like fortran or something?

OpenStudy (blurbendy):

niet

hero (hero):

Amusing

OpenStudy (primeralph):

@Hero Why?

hero (hero):

What are you trying to do here?

OpenStudy (primeralph):

I wanted us to write a program for her to help solve the equations. Since I'm sleepy; wanted others to help; they might be faster.

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

just do the problem... x + y + 2z = 3 x - y - z = 0 ------------- 2x + z = 3 x - y - z = 0 -->(-2) 3x - 2y - z = 1 ------------- -2x + 2y + 2z = 0 (result of multiplying by -2) 3x - 2y - z = 1 ------------- x + z = 1 2x + z = 3 x + z = 1 -->(-1) ----------- 2x + z = 3 -x -z = -1 ----------- x = 2 now sub 2 in for x 2x +z = 3 2(2) + z = 3 4 + z = 3 z = 3 - 4 z = -1 now sub 2 in for x and -1 in for z in one of the original equations x + y + 2z = 3 2 + y + 2(-1) = 3 2 + y - 2 = 3 y = 3 check by subbing in known values in one of the original equations x - y - z = 0 2- 3 -(-1) = 0 2 - 3 + 1 = 0 -1 + 1 = 0 0 = 0 (correct) x = 2, y = 3, and z = -1 or (2,3,-1)

OpenStudy (primeralph):

@texaschic101 Cool, but I already gave her a way to do it. Thank you for helping.

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

lol......I always was a day late and a dollar short

OpenStudy (primeralph):

I don't get exactly what you mean, but sure, I'll give you a dollar.

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

its just a saying....don't worry about it....but by giving her a program, is she really learning how to do it ?

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

although I can't really talk because I just gave her the answer :/

OpenStudy (primeralph):

You're awesome.

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

lol...thats a matter of opinion

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

thank you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you to all who helped. @primralph Why do you assume I am ungrateful? I lost internet connection due to the storm. Thank you for helping.

OpenStudy (primeralph):

@lissa_bug I did not assume that. Newbies just forget to give medals most times.

OpenStudy (primeralph):

And what storm?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

There is severe thunder storms in my area.

OpenStudy (primeralph):

You scared?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Nope. If I die, oh well. :)

OpenStudy (primeralph):

Superwoman. I feel you.
