unless i am being silly, if $A$ is not $B$ then $A$ is positive and $B$ is negative like say $30mph$ backwards

is it has smth to do with distance and displacement? like Ais not equals B thus it shud be larger than B since distance is always same as or greater than displacement? but the prob is the time >.< My other friend says it might hav smth to do wif circular motion @@
