Select the equations that are parallel and perpendicular to y = 2x − 1 and that pass through the point (4, 1). parallel: y = 2x − 7 perpendicular: y = x + 3 parallel: y = 2x + 2 perpendicular: y = x + parallel: y = x − 7 perpendicular: y = 2x + 3 parallel: y = −2x − 7 perpendicular: y = x − 1

i need help on this question @Hero

OpenStudy (anonymous):

format of linear graph: y = mx + b In order for the other graph to be parallel m must be the same but the y-intercept (b) is different. In order for the other graph to be perpendicular, both functions would have the same slope(m) but with different signs. That's it, just take a look around the given answers for a function which matches the conditions above, plug the value of x for the given point in the formula and if you get the same y, that's the one ;)

And I believe there's a mistake, now that I look at the given equations, perhaps an error was made while copying the task?
