8x(x-3)-30=5x(x-5)

OpenStudy (lncognlto):

You need to solve for x, right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I need to solve with quadratic formula and I'm having trouble getting it into the right form to solve

OpenStudy (lncognlto):

Okay, then: 8x(x-3)-30=5x(x-5) 8x^2 - 24x - 30 = 5x^2 - 25 x then 3x^2 + x - 30 = 0 Now you can solve with the quadratic formula.

I'm getting -1 +- 1 square root 360 divided by 6

OpenStudy (lncognlto):

1 sec, I am just double checking :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok, thank you

OpenStudy (lncognlto):

\[\frac{ -1 \pm \sqrt{1+360} }{ 6 }\] is what I get too, so I would say it is correct.
