Saul’s Chapeau Shop sells sleek sombreros Saturdays and Sundays. The hats come in a variety of sizes. The starting hat size has a diameter of 10 inches, and costs $4.00 . Each extra inch of brim added to the diameter of the hat costs $0.75. The largest diameter hat a customer can purchase is 48 inches. If each sombrero is a circle, which of the following represents the greatest area possible in square inches: a. 48 pie b. 100 pie c. 361 pie d. 576 pie e. 1152 pie note:pie as in 3.14...... i dont have pie symbol :)

OpenStudy (mary.rojas):

i believe it is d. is it right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thats correct. Radius is 1/2 of the diameter, so r=24inches. The area of a circle is pi*r^2, so 576pi.
