I need some help rewriting the equation below.

\[x=-\sqrt{y}\] needs to be rewritten to shift the graph upwards 3 units and to the left 4 units.

I think the proper one would be \[x=-\sqrt{y+3}-4\]

no you have it backwards

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if you want to shift it up 3 units, put a \(+3\) out at the end to shift if left 4 units put the \(-4\) inside the radical

Ahhh okay. At least I was on the right track and just had my numbers mixed up .
