PLEASE HELP!!! Which of the following functions represents the following graph? a) f(x) = sqrt x+2-1 b) f(x) = (x + 2)2 - 1 c) f(x) = -1/x+2 d) f(x) = (x + 2)3 - 1

Well that general shape for a graph [ie a U shape] is that of an x^2 function if it was an upsidedown U it would be a '-x^2' function So, looking at the options you are given, can you identify which of the functions has an 'x^2' component in it? I could just tell you the answer, but I feel it's better for you to understand why it is the one it is, I hope that's okay :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and also take into account, looking a the graph, that it has been translated from the origin

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So have a look at the different options and let me know which you think it is :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im sorry idk im so lost!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@primeralph yep I think so, but jump in if there's a better way to explain it :)

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

you want help?

OpenStudy (primeralph):

@nincompoop Really want to battle?

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

@primeralph i got this..?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ya and the answer haha

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

we can battle if you want, but I prefer a full-concept tutorial so the student/asker would have a complete comprehension of the topic
