Calculate the value of a A. 2.93 B. 1.46 C. 1.87 D. 1.36

OpenStudy (iesmee):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well look to see about what trig ratio you can use out of sin, cos, or tan. Do you see it?

OpenStudy (iesmee):

not really

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well what 2 sides of the triangle do they give you?

OpenStudy (iesmee):

they give me 2 and 43

OpenStudy (anonymous):

43 is a degree not a side they give the opposite of the angle the variable a and the hypotenuse of the triangle 2 Given this and the 3 trig rations of sin (opp/hyp), cos (adj/hyp) and tan (opp/adj) which one do you think you can use to find a?

OpenStudy (iesmee):

sin

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes so now set up an equation that looks like \[\sin(43)=\frac{ a }{ 2 }\] Multiply by 2 \[2(\sin)43)=a\] Now calculate it on your calculator (make sure your calculation mod is in degrees)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2sin(43) sorry

OpenStudy (iesmee):

1.6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

umm i get 1.36

OpenStudy (iesmee):

huh...weird

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well that is your answer, D

OpenStudy (iesmee):

thank you for your patience

OpenStudy (anonymous):

welcome! Anytime you need me id be glad to help
