The sea snails in tidal marine areas feed on the dominant species of algae. What kind of interaction takes place between the sea snail and the algae?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What are some dominant species of algae?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Mutualism Predation Competition Parasitism

OpenStudy (anonymous):

These are terms of symbiosis isn't it ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Symbiotic relationship.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Those are the answers to choose from that's all I know

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Know about symbiosis? or symbiotic relationship

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think so not really sure

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok...Look Symbiosis is a close ecological relationship between the individuals of two (or more) different species. Sometimes a symbiotic relationship benefits both species, sometimes one species benefits at the other's expense, and in other cases neither species benefits... Algae frequently form symbiotic relationships with other organisms, and sometimes they choose mollusks as their host.. Snail is mollusks.. Algae eats snail..it's algae's host here.. so your question is asking about snail and algae's relation ship.. As I told relationship between them is called symbiotic relationship.. So there are some terms of symbiotic relationships these are: Mutualism -- both species benefit Commensalism -- one species benefits, the other is unaffected Parasitism -- one species benefits, the other is harmed Competition -- neither species benefits Neutralism -- both species are unaffected

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So it would be A

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You are really good I have 3 more questions can you help please

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Mutualism was wrong

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok..which one is correct ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't know

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This is a test I can only miss 1out of 5 I've already missed 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It would be parasitism...I forgot to tell you.. these are different species..algae and snail... (parasite, benefits at the expense of the other, the host.)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I can redo it one more time

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think this is against the rule of Openstudy... We're not allowed to help people in Tests..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's not really a test that's what I'm calling it cause its only 5 questions I do understand

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So are you ready for the next question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes close this one.and ask in new question box

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok
