Ok :)
7x + 1 < 4(x - 2) distribute 4 to x and -2
7x + 1 < 4x -8 subtract 4x from both sides
3x + 1 < -8 subtract one from both sides
3x < -9 divide three from both sides
x < -3 and there's your answer :)
So all you're really doing id trying to get x all by itself by slowly getting rid of numbers :)
