PLEASE HELP explain how the frequency of an ocean wave determines the motion of a surfer on the wave?

OpenStudy (festinger):

Frequency is the number of complete cycle in a second. A complete cycle can be said to have 1 up and 1 down (for a wave).|dw:1374631014223:dw| So, knowing the frequency you can imagine as knowing how many times a second the surfer is at the highest point of the wave, and how many times a second he is at the bottom... of course the higher the frequency the bumpier the ride would be!
