OpenStudy (mayaal):

Please help me I will give u a medal for the right answer...! Which statement shows a difference between medians and altitudes of all triangles?

OpenStudy (mayaal):

An altitude connects the vertex of the triangle to the opposite side dividing the side into equal segments but a median does not. A median divides the vertex of the triangle into two angles of equal measure but an altitude does not. An altitude divides the area of a triangle in equal parts but a median divides it into two parts in which the area of one part is twice the area of the other. A median lies inside a triangle but an altitude can lie outside the triangle.

OpenStudy (mayaal):

Please Help Me.......!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OpenStudy (amistre64):

you are going to need to be able to define the terms ....

OpenStudy (amistre64):

|dw:1374614783325:dw| how would you define it on this?

OpenStudy (mayaal):

they r congruent.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

well, the n lengths are congruent; but that doesnt really define the median and altitude for me

OpenStudy (amistre64):

median relates to middle .... it divides line segment in half an altitude is just a 90 degree drop

OpenStudy (mayaal):

I think its the 3rd one

OpenStudy (amistre64):

not the 3rd one ..

OpenStudy (amistre64):

|dw:1374615033076:dw|

OpenStudy (mayaal):

the 1st one????

OpenStudy (amistre64):

no. an altitude doesnt divide anything in general

OpenStudy (mayaal):

ok so its 2nd? but I think its 4th...! :)

OpenStudy (amistre64):

id think its the 4th one too

OpenStudy (mayaal):

OK THANKS
