Can someone help me? What does this quote mean? "The Constitution, in a very significant sense, is not a mechanism for making decisions but preventing them." - Michael Gilson De Lomos

I think it means... that the constitution prevents us from making the wrong decisions?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The constitution is not there to 100% stop bad choices but prevents them.

can you elaborate? i kinda get what u mean but not exactly

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The constitution is very important but it is not a 100% fix. It was created as rules to follow, but as you know people break rules. The constitution keeps a lot of problems from happening but it does not 100% stop it. Just like laws, people still commit crimes but it keeps order.

but it says it prevents decisions?

prevents bad decisions
