In a direct variation, y is negative four when x is 2. What is y when x equals negative fourteen? A)-28 B)-7 C)7 D) 28 please help me..Explain!

ok well when u set up direct variation, you place either the x over the y or y over x
When two variables are related in such a way that the ratio of their values always remains the same, the two variables are said to be in direct variation.
in this case, im gonna put y over x
Yes so thats -4 over 2
so: -4/2= y/-14

we have the point (2,-4) so y=-2x
let x=-14 in that equation
you cross multiply, which would end up like: 56=2y
y=-2(-14) =28
then divide by 2 and u have ur answer. I really hope this helps you! Good Luck :D
