x + y + z = 2 3x - 2y + 2z = -8 -x - 12y + 8z = 12 add the first equation and third equation together (no need to multiply by anything, just add them together): x + y + z = 2 3x - 2y + 2z = -8 -11y + 9z = 14 (our new third equation) Now you can try eliminating x in the second equation... you could multiply the first by -3, then add that result to the second equation.

Yeah, or use elimination. It might be easiest to find y first, then find z. You could multiply the first equation by 9, then add the equations together, that'll get rid of z so you can find y. - 5y - z = -8 -11y + 9z = 14
