Find the midpoint between points (3, -5) and (-4, 1).

OpenStudy (psymon):

The x-coordinate of the midpoint is (x1 + x2)/2 and the y-coordinate of the midpoint is (y1 + y2)/2. Starting with x, you would have (3 + -4)/2, which is an x-coordinate of -1/2. The y coordinate of the midpoint would be (-5 + 1)/2, which is -2. So the midpoint is then (-1/2 , -2). When you find the midpoint, you're basically finding the average of the x-coordinates and the average of the y-coordinates.
