OpenStudy (imtiaz7):

what is the difference between hydrolysis and hydration

OpenStudy (festinger):

Hydration usually just involves adding one whole H2O molecules. Hydrolysis is more violent; the water molecule is broken up into H and OH and then added to the molecule.

OpenStudy (abb0t):

hydro = water lysis = to break hence, water breakage, to lose water. and hydration = to add.
