|(x+1)(x-1)| >= 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

solve \((x+1)(x-1)<-2\) or \((x+1)(x-1)>1\) separately do you know how to do that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont understand why one is less than -2 but the other is greater than 1. Why is it not 2 and -2?

OpenStudy (dls):

it will be greater than 2 only,it was his typing mistake,hopefully

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok.. I think the answer in book may be wrong, because I'm getting x >= sqrt(3) or x<= -sqrt(3)

OpenStudy (dls):

yup

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks lol. I thought I was doing something wrong, because the answer in the book is way off.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lets solve one of them you pick

OpenStudy (anonymous):
