Which is a good guideline to follow when using transitions in a presentation?
I assume you're talking about a powerpoint presentation. I don't know if this is the right section to ask that, but I guess it's as good as any! What I've heard is that you should not use an overly fancy transition. Boring is better than lots of irrelevant and distracting spinning, I guess! Also, stick with just one or two types, if you include fancy transitions. Just one is better than two, because it's not the purpose of your presentation. It could be distracting. It's the same idea with slide backgrounds. Of course, if your audience is a bunch of kids, go crazy to keep them interested! If your audience wants a quick, factual presentation, avoid features that distract from the point and take time. Those are my opinions, some of which came from a technical writing course.
