So, the Communist part in Cambodia came about because of extreme ideology; perpetuated by Vietnamese influence and wanting to kick the French out, basically. Usually when civilizations suffer, they turn to extremism. Deff. the right answer because the others make no sense: - no religious war - no huge shift between agricultural styles - the war/offensive fought in Cambodia by that group was against a Cambodian politician, so not an ethnic clash.
