Amanda and Stephen wrote the following proofs to prove that vertical angles are congruent. Who is correct?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Amanda’s Proof Statement Justification Angle1 +Angle4 = 180° Definition of Supplementary Angles Angle3 + Angle4 = 180° Definition of Supplementary Angles Angle1 + Angle4 = Angle3 + Angle4 Transitive Property of Equality 1 is congruent to 3 Subtraction Property of Equality

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Stephen’s Proof Statement Justification Angle1 + Angle2 = 180° Definition of Supplementary Angles Angle2 + Angle3 = 180° Definition of Supplementary Angles Angle1 + Angle2 = Angle2 + Angle3 Transitive Property of Equality Angle1 is congruent to Angle3 Subtraction Property of Equality

one went left, the other went right .... on a circle, it really doesnt matter does it. Thats the only diff i see between them

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait so what are u say

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@amistre64

OpenStudy (amistre64):

im saying, i see no obvious difference between them. one went 1+2 the other went 1+4 supplementals dont change their sum. so i see no real difference between the proofs

OpenStudy (anonymous):

are u saying neither of them are correct

OpenStudy (amistre64):

im saying they are both the same ... as posted. not sure if id call the third thing transitive tho; but my geometry terminology is not up to par

OpenStudy (amistre64):

<1 + <2 = 180 = <2 +<3 then <1 + <2 = <2 +<3 i spose transitive is fine as a name to call it

Amanda’s Proof Statement Justification Angle1 +Angle4 = 180° Definition of Supplementary Angles Angle3 + Angle4 = 180° Definition of Supplementary Angles Angle1 + Angle4 = Angle3 + Angle4 Transitive Property of Equality 1 is congruent to 3 Subtraction Property of Equality

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I still don't understand

OpenStudy (amistre64):

A Proof S Proof Angle1 +Angle4 = 180° Angle1 +Angle2 = 180° Definition of Supplementary Angles Angle3 + Angle4 = 180° Angle3 + Angle2 = 180° Definition of Supplementary Angles Angle1 + Angle4 = Angle3 + Angle4 Angle1 + Angle2 = Angle3 + Angle2 Transitive Property of Equality 1 is congruent to 3 1 is congruent to 3 Subtraction Property of Equality

OpenStudy (anonymous):

they are both correct right'

OpenStudy (amistre64):

i cant see anything wrong with them .....
