Equations with fractions; Show work! -7x + 3 = -15/2

OpenStudy (blurbendy):

you can start by subtracting 3 from both sides, so you'll end up with: -7x = -15/2 - 3 what is -15/2 - 3?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got a decimal!

OpenStudy (blurbendy):

what is it as a fraction?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't know how to convert them!

OpenStudy (blurbendy):

so we have -15/2 and -3 -3 can be written as -3/1 so we have -15/2 - 3/1 however, in order to add/subtract fractions, they need to have a common denominator (bottom part of the fraction) . so, what do we need to do to 1 to make it become 2? (hint think multiplication)
