The ideas of Montesquieu, a French writer, influenced the Founding Fathers to create a government where no one person or part had too much power. Why did this idea appeal to the Founding Fathers? They had experienced the rule of a tyrant. They liked the way Louis XVI governed France. They wanted to make sure government was powerful. This one is kind of tricky. But I'd probably go with the last answer myself since that's the plan that they eventually followed when they sat down to build a new government.
