OpenStudy (bekkah323):

solve: 3x-6/x=7

OpenStudy (imtiaz7):

i don't understand ur q

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x= -2/3 and 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

or it could be -3/2 depending on how the question is set up

OpenStudy (imtiaz7):

3x-6/x=7 i think like as: 3x-6=0 3x=6 x=6/3 x=2

OpenStudy (bekkah323):

the book says the first one you said was right. i just don't know how you got there

OpenStudy (anonymous):

use wolframalpha.com

OpenStudy (imtiaz7):

but what about x=7

OpenStudy (bekkah323):

its actually set up like \[3x- \frac{ 6 }{ x }=7\]

OpenStudy (bekkah323):

my book says the answers are 3 and -2/3. i just don't understand how to get to those answers

OpenStudy (imtiaz7):

ok now: it become; 3x^2-6/x =7 by cross multiplication: 3x^2-6=7x 3x^2-7x-6=0 by using quadratic formula: where a=3 , b=7 and c=-6 and solve it.

|dw:1374730371595:dw| now you can solve it
