How do you simplify cot(sec^(-1)x) using trigonometric identities?

OpenStudy (isaiah.feynman):

Before I solve it, is that 1/sec x or just inverse sec x?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

inverse secx

OpenStudy (isaiah.feynman):

I don't think there is any trig identity relating inverse secant to other trig functions. If that were 1/sec x the equation simplifies easily to sin x.

Yeah, the whole section seemed kind of off to me. I kept trying to find trig identities because the directions said to do so, but there didn't seem to be any. Thanks anyway! Sorry for wasting your time!

OpenStudy (isaiah.feynman):

Don't apologize lol we're here to help each other out.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Haha thanks :)
