Find the value of x. http://gyazo.com/c1fbbde1f5226224eeb9573af403c9fe

OpenStudy (sumi29):

There are two ways you can go about doing this. 1 - You actually find the side of the triangle using all methods you have. 2 - You eliminate the wrong options from the knowledge you possess. I will help you with the second.

Okay Well we can eliminate 60

Theorem: The segment joining the midpoints of two sides of a triangle has measure half that of the third side of the triangle. 30 = (1/2)x x = ? @GeometryHelpPlz

OpenStudy (sumi29):

We know that the two triangles are similar. Thus, they must follow the rules of similarity. Which means, the sides must be in proportion. If you can't work this out, you can atleast cross of the first three options because if you select a, then it will make x the shortest side of the triangle, and if you select b or c, it will make the triangle an isosceles, which can't be since the sides of the first triangle aren't similar, so their angles can't be similar either.

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

88/x =44/30 30*88=44x 30*2=x x=60

jhonyy9 (jhonyy9):

from proportionalitie of sides
