Which of the following is an equation of the line that passes through the point (2,000, 3,000) and has a slope of 100? A. y = 100x – 303,000 B. y = 100x – 300,000 C. y = 100x – 298,000 D. y = 100x – 197,000

I prefer to play this question as if there were no choices, after all, eventually, you'll have to be able to do that :D Now, if you're given the slope \(\Large \color{blue}m\) of a line as well as a point \(\Large (\color{red}p \ , \ \color{green}q)\) on the line, then the equation of the line is given by \[\huge y = \color{blue}m(x-\color{red}p)+\color{green}q\]

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

Or, right away, distribute, \[\huge y = \color{blue}mx -\color{blue}m\color{red}p +\color{green}q\]

?

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

Your slope is m, while (p,q) is the point through which your line passes.

terenzreignz (terenzreignz):

Just plug in the values and simplify :)
