To find the slant height of a pyramid, you visualize a right triangle protruding from the center of one of the sides and slicing into the pyramid to the center, where the height is. Now the length of one side is 3mm, so the distance to the center is 1.5mm, since the height is halfway in from every direction. Now you have two sides: 1.5mm, and 5mm. All you need to do now is the pythagorean theorem to find the hypotenuse, which will be the slant height.
