Rewrite with only sin x and cos x. sin 2x - cos 2x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2(sin x - cos x )= 0 sin x - cos x = 0 sin x = cos x did you have the answer ??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no I do not know the answer! the choices are A. 2 sin^2 x - 2 sin x cos x + 1 2 sin x 2 sin^2 x + 2 sin x cos x - 1 2 sin^2 x - 2 sin x cos x - 1

OpenStudy (nory):

Wait...you can't just factor out a 2 like that. You could, I guess, if it were 2 sin x - 2 cos x, but the 2 is "inside" the sine and cosine function.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So what should I do?

OpenStudy (nory):

There are identities for sin 2x and cos 2x. Do you know them? Or maybe you could use the formula for sin(x+y) and cos(x+y), if you know that.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What would the answer be?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im guessing the third but im not sure

OpenStudy (nory):

Sin 2x = 2 sin x cos x Cos 2x = cos^x - sin^x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that is not one of the answers though

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Im taking a timed test on my virtual class right now , thats why i need help
