What is the first step in solving the equation −4x − 16 = 20?

OpenStudy (nory):

What I would do is add 16 to both sides to get rid of that -16.

OpenStudy (uri):

−4x − 16 =20 arrange the equation first -4x-16-20=0

OpenStudy (uri):

-4x-16-20 What's the common? -4 right? -4(x+4+5)
