If you pick a shirt at random from the given batch of 165 shirts, what is the probability that it is red and the size is medium?

OpenStudy (wach):

It depends what other colors there are and what other sizes.

OpenStudy (wach):

Also, is there an even distribution of colors/sizes?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

there is no other information

OpenStudy (wach):

You can't really know for sure, then. :l But here is what you would do if you knew the other components:

OpenStudy (wach):

Pretend that 'size' and 'color' are different categories. Let's say that there are only either red or white shirts, that would give you 1/2 chance of choosing a red shirt, right? And let's say that there is a small, medium, and large size: that gives you a 1/3 chance of choosing a medium. But together, it's a 1/6 chance of getting both 'categories' because out of the 1/2 red shirts, only 1/3 are medium, ie 1/2 x 1/3, right?

ohhhhhhh!!! i know this now! thank you very much!
