In order to check if any given graph is a function use a pencil

1. get a pencil or anything straight.
2. Hold it vertically and parallel to the y axis. (or perpendicular to x axis) same way of saying same thing.

3  slide it to the left edge of the graph picture.
4. slide it slowly to the right checking for any time the graph touches your pencil twice. If it does then it is not a function.
