You just got a cellular phone for your birthday and are trying to decide on the best cellular phone company. When you contacted the Calls-A-Lot company, they were offering a monthly plan of $40 for 500 minutes and $0.25 for each minute over the 500 minutes. In the Sunday paper you see an ad for the TalkAway company, which offers a monthly plan of $35 for 500 minutes and $0.30 for each minute over the 500 minutes. How many minutes would you have to talk over the 500 minutes for the cost to be the same with both companies? What would be the equal cost?
PLZ help me
let x = number of minutes talked let m = x + 500 ( number of minutes over 500 ) Calls-A-Lot : 40 + .25m Talk away : 35 + .3m How many minutes until they are equal? Set equation equal to each other. 40 + .25m = 35 + .3m 5 = .05m 100 = m or 100 minutes over 500 minutes is where they become equal, at a cost of $65
