write the equation log5(125)=3 in exponential form

OpenStudy (mertsj):

What is the ase?

OpenStudy (mertsj):

base?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

where is base?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

5 is on the bottom of log and 125 is lined up with it

OpenStudy (mertsj):

So do you know what the base is?

OpenStudy (mertsj):

\[\log_{5}125= 3 \]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes that is what the equation is what is the formula for exponential form

OpenStudy (mertsj):

What is the base?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

5

OpenStudy (mertsj):

What is the exponent?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

there isn't an exponent

OpenStudy (mertsj):

Aha...that is your problem. The log is the exponent. So the equation says log = 3 that means the exponent is 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i don't understand what you mean. ive done this problem before but i don't remember how to do it i know that for logarithmic form b^x=y and that would become logb(32)=5

OpenStudy (mertsj):

5^3=125. The base is 5 and the exponent is 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you

OpenStudy (mertsj):

It is very important for you to learn that THE LOG IS THE EXPONENT.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay i wrote that down on my paper thank you

OpenStudy (mertsj):

yw
