SOMEONE PLEASE HELP. What is the value of a + b? You may assume that the ray is tangent to the circle. A. 64 B. 128 C. 90 D. 180

Hint: Tangent to a Circle Perpendicular to a Diameter

:/

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Not a big enough clue?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i have no clue what i'm doing tbh

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

You must ponder my clue. What does the diameter do to the circle? What is special about a diameter that is not true of any other line segment intersecting the circle twice? What is the definition of a tangent?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

"A line which touches a circle or ellipse at just one point. Below, the blue line is a tangent to the circle c. Note the radius to the point of tangency is always perpendicular to the tangent line."

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

See that note? The Radius is half a diameter. Not, rephrasing just a little... "Note the radius (or diameter) to the point of tangency is always perpendicular to the tangent line"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohh ok

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

So a + b = What?
