vmware provides a virtualized environment for you, to put it simply it just takes a chuck of your hard disk and makes it as if it was a new machine with no OS on it.
so you can use that portion to install fedora 18

dowload vmware
http://www.vmware.com/products/player/

install vmware (just as you install a new software)

creating new virtual machine
open vmware and select create new virtual machine and accordingly assign the amount of space (say about 20GB would do) and then follow the instructions. they are very clear and understandable

power on the virtual machine
finally upto now you have setup the virtual machine, now power it on (click the option "power on virtual machine") and enjoy

harsimran_hs4 thanks but i am using linux fedora 18 and when i download and install something like as chrom it show a message about the miising security signature.
can you tell me how to fix it.

well you can skip those and then update the system once you install the system
this is introduced if some error creeps in during download or you download from unverified resources
(do check the checksum for the download)
