Graph y=-(X+3)^2-1

|dw:1374816059636:dw| Horrible sketch, but that would be the result. Would you be able to see why by chance?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

not sure my answer was on the other side upside down v under positive 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I eyeballed it and teacher said I was close but was wrong in my answer

OpenStudy (psymon):

Well, the form of these equations is (x - h). The minus HAS to be there. It is always x - something. So the only possible way for you to have an (x+3) is to actually have an [x-(-3)]. This is why the answer is under negative 3 and not positive 3.

I see

OpenStudy (psymon):

Kinda make sense?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah makes sense more so then what the teacher explained

OpenStudy (psymon):

^_^ Glad it does. If you got another question lemme know.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

most definitely
