I eyeballed it and teacher said I was close but was wrong in my answer
Well, the form of these equations is (x - h). The minus HAS to be there. It is always x - something. So the only possible way for you to have an (x+3) is to actually have an [x-(-3)]. This is why the answer is under negative 3 and not positive 3.
