x + 4(2/9) = -5
x + 8/9 = -5
x = -5 - 8/9
x = -45/9 - 8/9
x = - 53/9

check...

2(-53/9) - 10(2/9) = -14
-106/9 - 20/9 = -14
-126/9 = -14
-14 = -14

I got x = -53/9 and y = 2/9
