The ratio of the diameters of two circles is 3:5. The circumference of the larger circle is approximately 113.1 m. What is the approximate circumference of the smaller circle? 7.5 m 22.6 m 67.9 m 188.5 m

OpenStudy (ivettef365):

I would divide 113.1/3.14(which is pi) to find out what is the diameter what do you get ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

something way off. 36.02

OpenStudy (ivettef365):

ok diameter of larger circle = 36, so the ration of diameter is 3:5 that is equal to 3/5 = 0.60, so what is 36 x .60 = (that would be diameter of smaller circle)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

21.6 round and i get 22. 6 thanks :)

OpenStudy (ivettef365):

wait, that is not the answer yet

OpenStudy (ivettef365):

the question is what is the circumference of the smaller circle, now you have the diameter of the smaller circle = 21.6, so the circumference is the diameter x 3.14 so 21.6 x 3.14

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay :)

OpenStudy (ivettef365):

so what did you get for the answer ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

67.8

OpenStudy (ivettef365):

correct
