(3x-7)(3x-5)??

OpenStudy (ivettef365):

FOIL

OpenStudy (anonymous):

whats that??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@e.cociuba ??

OpenStudy (e.cociuba):

FOIL: First - Outer - Inner - Last

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so how do you work this problem out?? @e.cociuba??

OpenStudy (e.cociuba):

(3x-7)(3x-5): The First terms are multiplied together: x*x = x²

OpenStudy (anonymous):

9x

OpenStudy (ivettef365):

3x multiplied by 3x = 9x^2 ???????

OpenStudy (ivettef365):

and 3x multiplied by -5 = -15x ?????

OpenStudy (ivettef365):

so you have 9x^2 -15x -21x + 35

OpenStudy (ivettef365):

now you can combine like terms

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it would be 24x^2?? @ivettef365

OpenStudy (ivettef365):

no it would be 9x^2 -36x -35 the only term that you can add was -15x - 21x (just because both have only one "x") you can not combine the other terms because are different

OpenStudy (ivettef365):

sorry +35

OpenStudy (ivettef365):

9x^2 -36x +35
