how can you solve this quadratic equation by graphing it. 2x^2 +8x+20 = y

well the problem with this question is that the curve is positive definite... which means that it is always above the y axis and has a range y >= 12 but the curve can be used to find solutions to problems where y is a value >= 12 by drawing a line, say y = 20... and seeing where the 2 curves intersect.
