Will medal and fan!!!!!! The graph below represents which system of inequalities? (Graph in comment below) y < -2x + 6 y < x + 2 y less than or greater to -2x + 6 y less than or greater to x + 2 y < 2 over 3x - 2 y > 2x + 2 None of the above

I know that it's not B because neither of the lines are solid.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well first you need to find the equations of the two lines which will help you narrow down your answers

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How do I do that? Sorry Im not very good at Algebra...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its okay, ill help you.... well these two lines are linear so they are going to take on the y=mx+b form M= the slope and B= the Y intercept... any questions before I continue

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no go ahead

OpenStudy (anonymous):

first thing you do is look at the shading on the graph. Is the shading above the two lines ore below the two lines?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Below. I think

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you're right, so that means that Y is less than the equation( Y< X ) so you go trough your answers and get rid of the ones with the equations that say Y is more than the equations. So what answers are left

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A hint there are doted lines.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

alright so now we test the equations on is -2x+6 so we look at both of the lines and see if one has a slope of -2 and an intercept of 6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then the other equation is x+2 so we look for the line that's got the intercept of 2 and a slope of 1(x).... and the two equations work so the answer is A

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yay! Thanks for teaching me!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You're welcome! :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You should also watch if the dotted lines are straight lines this means this is equal or greater or smaller

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks
