Can anybody please tell me if A is the correct answer?

OpenStudy (aonz):

question?

OpenStudy (mary.rojas):

yes it is... just kidding we need the question first!

@AonZ , @mary.rojas

OpenStudy (aonz):

3x-5= 85+x Do you know why this is?

OpenStudy (aonz):

One of the theorems states that the exterior angle of a triangle is equal to the sum of the two remote interior angles.

OpenStudy (mary.rojas):

why the 85? It seems random?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

exterior angles theorem

OpenStudy (aonz):

What do you mean why the 85? @mary.rojas

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so is A the correct answer then?

OpenStudy (aonz):

yes it is A

OpenStudy (mary.rojas):

85 seems random to me because it has nothing to do with finding the x for those to x angles on the bottom. 85 seems like it is randomly put in finding x......

OpenStudy (aonz):

Well, how would you find x then?

OpenStudy (mary.rojas):

85+x does not equal 180 so why even bother to add it to the equation. thats what I feel like. Thats why it seems random to me. And am not saying your wrong. I just want to understand

OpenStudy (aonz):

i used the exterior angle theorem

OpenStudy (aonz):

states that the exterior angle of a triangle is equal to the sum of the two remote interior angles.

OpenStudy (aonz):

The 2 remote interior angles are x AND 85 :)

OpenStudy (mary.rojas):

ok i see now. thank you for explaining to me.

OpenStudy (aonz):

^^ hehe no problem
