OpenStudy (animelover98):

When two amino acids combine and the carboxylate group of the first amino acid reacts with the amino group of the second amino acid, what is the most accurate description of the end product? A di-peptide and carbon dioxide A di-peptide and water A polypeptide A protein

OpenStudy (animelover98):

*carboxyl

OpenStudy (abb0t):

It's obviously not the last choice.

OpenStudy (animelover98):

I figured as much

OpenStudy (abb0t):

Well, usually loss of water is the product (hydrolysis) during peptide formation. So you have a peptide, but I don't think you have enuff peptides to actually call it a peptide, because I think it's 2 or 3+ so I'm going to argue choice 2.

OpenStudy (animelover98):

Thank you, that helped a lot. :)

OpenStudy (abb0t):

sorry, enough peptides to call it a polypeptide* is what i MEANT to say.
