HELP PLEASE I LL GIVE A MEDAL! why was Amendment 14 significant to citizens residing in the United States? (short response would be best)

14th amendment includes : citizenship clause - individuals born in U.S. the right to citizenship due process clause - protects 1st amendments rights and prevents these rights from being taken away. equal protection clause - no discrimination against them by law.

The Fourteenth Amendment was passed in a 1868, a few years later the US Supreme Court used it in ruling that the "Bill of Rights" not only pertained to Federal Government but also to the States. At that time each State constitution had to be amended to include it. Prior the 'Bill of Rights" only restricted the Federal leaving the State free.
