Can someone check my work in solving the equation for s? 81s^2+36s=-4. I came up with {-2/9,-2/9}. Would the final answer be 0 or -2/9?

OpenStudy (asnaseer):

what made you think the answer is 0?

OpenStudy (psymon):

It would just be -2/9. You apparently did the work correctly to get to -2/9, just not sure what extra things you did.

I came up with -2/9,-2/9 I figured that would just zero itself out.?.?

Got it Psymon, thx for ur assistance. thx.

OpenStudy (asnaseer):

no - in a quadratic equation you can have: 1) two distinct roots 2) two identical roots 3) no solutions what you found was two identical roots.
