Factor the trinomial below. x2 - 16x + 28

To factor the trinomial, first we have to think of two numbers that multiply to get 28 and add to get -16. They both have to be negative. Can you think of two numbers like that?

They are -14 and -2. So we can write x^2 - 16x + 28 = (x-14)*(x-2).
