A turtle takes 3.5 minutes to walk 18m toward the south along a desert highway. A truck driver stops and picks up the turtle and takes him to town, 1,1 km to the north, with an average speed of 12m/s. What is the magnitude of the average velocity of the turtle for its entire journey? 3,6m/s, 9,8m/s, 6,0m/s, 2,6m/s or 11m/s? Thank you .
have you utilized trig. Soh Cah Toa and drawn a diagram?

i would state based on average formula of Velocity. to take the south bound velocity plus north bound velocity add them to together and divide by 2. which gets you to 6.045m/s roughly.
you magnitude is technically heading north at an average trip velocity of 6.0 ms/s.
but you displacement would be 16.9 meters south of start but 1.1 meters north of pick up
Thank you, I was looking for the 6m/s answer!
