17x-5 - (4x+1) - (5x-4)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so.. i just added them?

OpenStudy (bahrom7893):

yea just simplify.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait, is it 2(4x-1)

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

\(17x - 5 - (4x + 1) - (5x - 4) \) Start by getting rid of parentheses. Then combine like terms. Since there is a negative sign to the left of each set of parentheses, to remove parentheses, you must change the sign of everything inside the parentheses.
