okay.. so im on eschool and it shows this: (except with straight lines.... how do i solve this?! what does this mean? ....help {y}=4

OpenStudy (mertsj):

|y|=4 It means that y is a number that is exactly 4 units from 0. What are those numbers? And it is read "The absolute value of y = 4"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I tried that.. It said it's wrong & said: "Remember that absolute value means the distance from zero."

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what did you try?

which two numbers are four units away from zero?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-4 and 4 but it says thats wrong.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh

OpenStudy (anonymous):

did you type it in using "no spaces" ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yep

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then the system is not working properly don't spend any more time thinking about it and move on

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i can't move on. its mandatory. thanks though.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

gotta love technology huh?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OK. heres another one. {y+4}=6 ......

OpenStudy (mertsj):

It says to type the solution set. Did you type {-4,4}?
